Life as a writer can be difficult. It's literally living in a different world, and it can be extremely hard recognizing it as a fact.

As a creative writer, you live in a world that's different from everyone else's. Even other writers. You don't see the world the way they do, and they don't see it the way you do. Your world is unique, because your craft is to be a creator of unique worlds.
Whether you make a living on it or not, that's how it is being inside the mind of a writer. Most of what takes place there doesn't fit into the so-called real world. As a result, your only option is to create your own world, and that's what you do when you write.
A hard fact
Recognizing this as a fact of the writing life can be extremely difficult. It took me decades, for instance, and because of it I made choices in life that took me in a direction away from writing.
I don't want that to happen to you. I want you to understand that as a writer the only way forward is to create your own world. Anything else is a waste of time.
