Meet the ruler.

Whether in real life or fiction, we depend on leadership, and that's where the ruler archetype delivers. Some, however, represent the murkier side of life.

Continuing our journey through the archetypes, we have reached the second one in the triad motivated by providing structure: the ruler.

It's probably the most important of the archetypes, since it's the one who decides what happens to the others through its leadership.

One way or the other, we are all affected by the decisions made by a ruler personality.

Whether a prime minister, queen, boss, leader, or dictator, such people have enormous impact on the world, and that's what they crave.

They are motivated by control over others, and their goal is to lead them to a common destination and provide a certain structure.

Like the caregiver, they like stability, but not by sacrificing themselves for others.

On the contrary, they would never dream of sacrificing the one thing that justifies their personality: power.

Hence, they live by the motto,

“Power isn't everything, it's the only thing.”
