Meet the everyman.
As the most democratic archetype, the everyman represents our need for belonging and not standing out from the crowd; at the cost of innovation.
With its longing for connecting with others, the everyman archetype has similarities to the jester, but with a different motivation behind it.
As you may remember from last week's post, the jester is motivated by pleasure.
That's not the case for the everyman, which is entirely motivated by a sense of belonging.
As a result, it's the kind of archetype we also call, “the person next door”, “the solid citizen”, or “the silent majority”.
It's the most democratic of all archetypes and lives by the motto,
“All men and women are created equal.”
