As such your voice shouldn't need any specific tool to express itself. It's there no matter what tool you use, but some tools make it easier to find and express your voice, which is why it's a good idea to experiment with different ones.

Now, I would personally advocate pen and paper, but to be honest I haven't always used that. I once played the saxophone for a couple of years, but eventually had to acknowledge that it wasn't my natural instrument.

It did help me discover my voice, though, because it led me to martial art, which led me to journalism, which led me to writing.
